What if I told you the hardest part of building a business isn’t getting to $1 million… it’s getting started?

Here’s the truth: Most people think they need the perfect product, the perfect name, or the perfect timing to succeed. But that’s why they stay stuck. The real difference between those who make it and those who don’t is this: They just start.

I’m going to share with you exactly how I went from having no job, no savings, and no stability to building a business from scratch…

And eventually making nearly $1 million a year.

Not only have I built my own business, but I’ve also helped countless others scale theirs. By the end of this, you’ll know:

What I would do if I had to start all over again.

  1. The #1 mistake that holds most people back, and how to avoid it.

  2. The #1 mistake that holds most people back, and how to avoid it.

  3. And the simple formula to build momentum and never lose it.

If you feel like you’re stuck, this newsletter will give you the exact roadmap to get started and keep going.

But let me paint you a picture first.

Years ago, I was stuck. After failing out of community college, I ended up working as a cashier at Home Depot. When I moved to the big city with my best friend, I thought I’d have a new job waiting for me, but I didn’t.

I had no income, no savings, and rent was due in three weeks. I felt like I had nothing going for me. So I took the first job I could find…

Making coffee as an office assistant. I didn’t overthink it. I just started.

And here’s the thing: That small, seemingly insignificant job ended up being my first stepping stone. Why? Because I asked questions, I built relationships, and I started learning skills that I would eventually use to build something incredible.

Fast forward nearly 10 years, and I was making close to $1 million a year… for someone else’s business.

And that’s when the realization hit me: Why wasn’t I building my own business?

I burned through savings, hit the reset button on my family’s stability, and started from scratch. It wasn’t pretty, but I knew one thing for sure: The only way to fail was to quit.

Now, let’s break down how I made the leap and how you can too.

Start Before You’re Ready

Here’s the first hard truth: You just need to start.

Most people spend their time obsessing over the wrong things.

  • “What should I name my business?”

  • “Is my logo unique enough?”

  • “What if people don’t like my idea?”

None of that matters if you never actually start.

Perfection is the enemy of progress.
The reality is, most of the things you’re worrying about right now won’t matter 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years into your business. The perfect product or brand doesn’t exist. What matters is taking action and learning as you go.

My First Step Wasn’t Pretty

When I started, I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t have savings. I didn’t even have a clear idea of what I wanted to do.

I was just trying to survive.

Now? I am making more money than I have ever made before…

And none of that would’ve happened if I hadn’t taken that first, imperfect step.

Why People Don’t Start

Here’s what I’ve realized: I believe the reason most people don’t start isn’t because they’re lazy… it’s because they’re scared.

  • Scared of failing.

  • Scared of what people will think.

  • Scared of starting small.

But the truth is you’re going to fail. You’re going to make mistakes. And people might judge you.

But every single entrepreneur I’ve worked with who’s made it past six figures has one thing in common: They started anyway.

What Starting Actually Looks Like

Starting doesn’t mean launching a six-figure product tomorrow. It doesn’t mean quitting your job on a whim or pouring thousands of dollars into a business idea.

Starting means taking one small step:

  • Reaching out to your first potential customer.

  • Building a simple landing page.

  • Testing your idea by selling it to just one person.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to take the first step. Because once you start, momentum kicks in and that’s where the magic happens.

Ask Yourself:

What’s one thing I can do today to move forward? Not next week, not when you “feel ready.” Just one thing, right now.

It could be as simple as writing down your business idea or reaching out to someone who might need your product or service. Whatever it is, do it today.

Because the truth is, the difference between success and staying stuck isn’t perfection. In my opinion it’s action.

Master One Thing First

Here’s the second hard truth: You just need to do one thing better than anyone else.

Why Trying to Do It All Will Keep You Stuck

When you’re starting a business, it’s tempting to think you need to do it all:

  • Build the perfect product.

  • Run flawless ads.

  • Write killer emails.

  • Fulfill every order personally.

  • Keep every customer happy.

But here’s the problem: If you’re trying to master everything, you’re going to master nothing.

I see this all the time with $100,000 businesses. They stretch themselves so thin trying to be good at everything that they end up being mediocre at all of it. Instead of doubling down on their strengths, they spend their time patching up weaknesses. And that’s exactly why they stay stuck.

How I Found My Superpower

When I started building businesses, I didn’t try to do everything at once. Why? Because I couldn’t.

I didn’t have a team. I didn’t have endless hours in the day. And honestly, I didn’t even have the skills to master all those areas.

So, I focused on one thing: monetization.

My goal was simple.

Build a revenue plan each and every month. I got really, really good at taking leads, running promotions and making offers so valuable customers had nothing to say except “Yes.” And once I mastered that, something amazing happened:

  • Revenue started coming in consistently.

  • I had the resources to hire people to handle the other parts of the business

  • And suddenly, the business.. it was growing.

That’s the power of focusing on one thing.

The Problem with Being a Jack of All Trades

Most entrepreneurs try to be a jack of all trades because they feel like they have to.

They think: “If I don’t handle everything myself, my business will fall apart.” or even “I can’t afford to hire someone, so I’ll just figure it out on my own.”

But here’s the truth: Trying to master everything is a recipe for being the bottleneck and slowing down your business. And worse, it keeps you from getting truly great at the one thing that could move your business forward the fastest.

What Mastering One Thing Looks Like

So, what does it actually mean to master one thing?

It means identifying your superpower.

The one thing you do better than anyone else, and leaning into it with everything you’ve got.

Maybe you’re a natural at creating amazing products. Focus on that, and find simple, scalable ways to sell them.

Maybe you’re incredible at sales. Spend your time building a sales team, closing deals, and growing your revenue.

Whatever your superpower is, double down on it. Let that be your foundation, and then build everything else around it.

How to Identify Your Superpower

Here’s a quick way to figure it out:

  1. Ask yourself, What comes naturally to me?
    - Is it connecting with people? Solving problems? Creating ideas?

  2. Think about your past successes.
    - What’s the one thing you’ve done in your career or life that consistently works for you?

  3. What feels effortless but makes a big impact?

Once you’ve identified your superpower, focus 80% of your energy there. Let the other 20% be for other tasks. Most importantly, don’t get distracted by trying to master everything at once.

Here’s the bottom line

Most businesses fail to grow at the beginning because they’re spread too thin. They try to do too much, instead of doubling down on what works.

If you want to break through that six-figure ceiling, figure out what your superpower is and make it the foundation of your business.

Ask yourself:
What’s the one thing I do better than anyone else? And how can I use that to move my business forward?

Once you’ve mastered your superpower, everything else starts to fall into place.

Time is the Ultimate Multiplier

Here’s the final hard truth: Time is your biggest advantage, but only if you start now.

Time is like a secret weapon in business, but most people don’t realize it.

Time compounds your results. The longer you stay in the game, the more momentum you build. It’s not about overnight success, it’s about persistence.

  • The more time you spend improving your craft, the better you get.

  • The more time you spend building your business, the stronger your foundation becomes.

  • And the more time you stay consistent, the faster your results compound.

But here’s the catch: Time only works in your favor if you start using it now.

I always see people make is waiting. Waiting for the perfect time, the perfect plan, the perfect opportunity. But every day you wait is a day you lose momentum and a day you could’ve been getting closer to your goals.

Momentum Takes Time

When I finally got good enough to move from coffee runner to building businesses, it wasn’t perfect. Far from it.

There were missteps, sleepless nights, and moments where I thought, Is this even going to work?

I remember one month where I launched a new offer, poured my heart into it, and it flopped. It was embarrassing. I could’ve quit. But instead, I took a step back, learned from my mistakes, and launched again.

The second time? It did better. Not amazing but better.

If I had stopped after that first failure, I wouldn’t be where I am today. But because I stuck with it, time did what it always does: It compounded my efforts.

The Truth About Overnight Success

People love to look at someone who’s killing it and say, “Wow, they’re so lucky.” What they don’t see are the years of effort that came before the breakthrough:

  • The late nights, early mornings, and endless trial-and-error.

  • The risks they took that didn’t pan out.

  • The days when nothing seemed to work, but they kept going anyway.

The truth is, most “overnight success” stories are like icebergs. They’re not there because of what’s above the surface, it’s what you don’t see that put them there.

The Power of Momentum

Momentum is one of the most powerful forces in business but it doesn’t happen instantly.

It’s like pushing a car. At first, it takes a ton of effort to get it moving. But once it’s rolling, it gets easier and easier to keep it going.

That’s exactly how business works. When you’re starting out, it feels hard. You’re not seeing results yet, and you’re tempted to quit. But every day you keep going, you’re building momentum. And eventually, that momentum takes over, and things start happening faster than you ever expected.

The Cost of Waiting

Here’s what I want you to think about:

  • What will your life look like in a year if you start today?

  • Now, what will it look like if you don’t?

The longer you wait, the harder it gets to start. You’re not just losing time, you’re losing opportunities to learn, grow, and build momentum.

The best time to start was yesterday. The second-best time is today.

My Challenge For You

Think about where you want to be a year from now. Then ask yourself, What’s one small step I can take today to get closer to that goal?

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be something.

Because the longer you stay in the game, the more time works in your favor. And one year from now, you’ll thank yourself for starting today.

Here’s what I want you to take away:

  1. You don’t need to be ready, but you do need to start.

  2. Focus on mastering one thing before you try to do it all.

  3. And remember, time is your biggest advantage. Every day you put off starting is a day you’re falling behind.

If I can go from a broke coffee runner to building my own successful business, I know you can too. But you have to take the first step.

So here’s your next step:

  1. Write down the one thing you’re going to focus on this week to get started.

  2. Leave a comment below sharing what you’re committing to and I’ll personally respond to as many as I can.

If this helped you, share it with someone who needs to hear this, and watch out for next week’s newsletter for more strategies to build and scale your business.

The hardest part is getting started. Go out there and take the first step.
